Mercy Run: Sibling Rivalry .png 5k/10K/ Fun Run supports children after the death of a sibling.

The WHY:

In 2011, we lost our Mercy Elizabeth after 13 short, beautiful days and were especially concerned about that impact on her siblings, who had also so eagerly awaited her arrival. The love and support of our family and friends has led us to reach out to help other families with children who find themselves in a similar situation. We have been in their shoes and want to share resources helping us navigate our loss.

The What:

Mercy’s Gift is a grant funding grief resources as well as opportunities for children to participate in an activity while they learn the new normal of life without their sibling. The activity can be extracurricular, academic or mental health related.  We also supply sibling grief resources for parents.

The How:

We fund Mercy’s Gift and the grief resources through participation in the Mercy Run and from donations. Register.

The Who:

All children experiencing the recent death of a sibling are eligible for Mercy’s Gift and our grief resources. Children may be nominated by a parent, relative, or family friend.

Applications for Mercy’s Gift can be found at

The Name:

We named the organization TEAM MERCY after our daughter Mercy AND because it takes a TEAM to help children and families on the grief journey. No one person can do this alone.

The Mercy Run 2017 is called SIBLING RIVALRY because it is a competition for the same objective: supporting siblings after loss. We all want to help children. And we all have a sibling of some sort - sometimes, but not always, blood related. Our challenge to you is to find “siblings”  and challenge them to compete with you in supporting children after loss, by running, walking, raising funds and cheering on others. We look forward to seeing you at the Mercy Run: SIBLING RIVALRY 10k/5K/Fun Run. Nov.4, 2017 Andy Brown Park East. Coppell,TX.
