Larry Linton – An Alumni Spotlight Story

This post was originally published on the ResponsiveEd Newsroom.

When Larry Linton enrolled in Eagle Academy of Fort Worth, charter schools were a fairly new concept. Eagle Academy, now called Premier High School, was one the first school models offered by ResponsiveEd? focusing on credit recovery through content mastery. Linton chose to try the new school of choice after being unhappy at his former high school.

Linton remembers the saying, “your network is your net worth”  to inspire him to always look for opportunities to become successful. He says that outside of his parents, his teacher Ms. Silva has been one of his biggest supporters. “I wouldn’t be half of who I have become if it wasn’t for her unique and innovative teaching style,” says Linton.

Following high school graduation, Linton studied web design at Tarrant County College and is continuing to pursue his passions. He loves to cook and is in his third year of operating a food truck that specializes in turkey legs and walking tacos. He travels with his food truck, but also with his semi truck as he has been a truck driver for the past 12 years.

Linton stays busy, but in his free time he helps other young men obtain their commercial driver’s license (CDL), is involved in his church and a prison ministry. Linton hopes to grow his mobile food service business and one day have the first ‘bustaurant’ in the Dallas-Fort Worth area.
