Castle Hills is bringing a new concert series to the Village Shops this spring. The outdoor plaza will host two stand-out music acts: The Quebe Sisters on Saturday, May 2, and Johnny Lee & The Urban Cowboy Band on Saturday, June 6. The free concerts will also include free family-friendly activities like carnival games, face-painting and bounce houses. The Castle Hills Spring Concert Series will take place from 5-8 p.m. at the Castle Hills Village Shops, located at 2540 King Arthur Blvd. at Lady of the Lake in the Castle Hills neighborhood in Lewisville.
Sponsored by Baylor Carrollton, The Quebe Sisters will perform at the Village Shops on May 2, with their unique blend of swing, vintage country, bluegrass and jazz standards. The group, described as "singin', swingin', triple-fiddle-playin' songbirds," blows audiences away with their style. Awarded the Crescendo Award by the Western Music Association and winner of the Western Swing Album of the Year from the Academy of Western Artists, the Quebe Sisters are touring behind their latest album, Every Which-A-Way. The Washington Post called them “mesmerizing,” and their fans include Ricky Skaggs, who said, “The Quebe Sisters are some of the most talented people I've ever met. They sound like Texas and they're prettier than Texas Bluebonnets, and sweeter than sugar cane.” The Quebe Sisters have played Lincoln Center, the Kennedy Center, the National Folk Festival and the Grand Ole Opry.
Sponsored by Kroger Marketplace, Johnny Lee & The Urban Cowboy Band will perform on Saturday, June 6. The band will take the stage in Castle Hills with the hit song “Looking for Love,” the musical centerpiece of the ’80s classic movie “Urban Cowboy,” and one of the Top 100 country songs of all time. A country mainstay, Lee has countless country hits on the Billboard charts: “One in a Million” (1980); “Bet Your Heart on Me” (1981); “The Yellow Rose” (1984, a duet with Lane Brody and the theme song to the NBC TV series of the same name); and “You Could Have Heard a Heartbreak” (1984).
Free activities for the whole family are being sponsored by Grande Communications. PI.E 3.14 Everyday Eatery will have a beer garden near the stage and food trucks with concessions will be available for purchase. Activities and concessions are from 5 - 8 p.m. The bands perform from 6 - 7:30 p.m. There will also be collection bins near the stage for a food drive for CCA's Food Pantry. In addition to a canned food item, make sure to bring a blanket, chairs and the whole family. Everyone is welcome to attend!
