Artists busily work on their creations.

Lakeside Arts Foundation is partnering with Greater Lewisville Arts Alliance and the City of Lewisville to host “Chalk This Way!” Sidewalk Art Festival on Saturday, June 1 outside the Lewisville MCL Grand from 9 a.m. to 6 p.m.

Chalk This Way has been in The Colony for the past two years but is relocating to Lewisville. This event will feature a professional chalk artist exhibit, amateur chalk art contest, scholarship contest for high school seniors, a children’s non-competitive gallery, art vendors, food and drink vendors and musical entertainment.

LAF is actively seeking fine art vendors and encouraging local artists of all ages to participate in the Amateur Art Competition. For a fee of $15 (pre-register discount) each artist will be provided high-quality artist-grade pastels and a designated 6 x 6’ square area to work. Artists are asked to submit a sketched rendering of their planned work ahead of time to make sure that the work is appropriate for family viewing at a community event. The following categories will be recognized and awarded: Best in Show, Best use of Color, Best Anime, Best Visual Concept, Best 3-D Image and People’s Choice. All entry forms are due by May 28.

High school seniors are invited to participate in the Scholarship Competition where Lakeside Arts Foundation will award three scholarships to the top-selected entries. The first place scholarship is $500, Second Place is $350 and Third Place is $250.

The Non-Competitive Children’s area is open to children of all ages. For $3, children will be provided sidewalk-grade chalk and a designated 2 x 2’ area in which to work. A rendering is not required for this area.

The event will close with an Awards Ceremony. Details, rules and entry forms are available on the website at www.lakesidearts.org. For more information, contact Lakeside Arts Foundation at 972-625-1726 or email president@lakesidearts.org.
