Students at Castle Hills Elementary (CHE) in Lewisville ISD ventured outside on a beautiful May morning to celebrate the completion of a school, PTA and community-wide effort to improve their playground with the addition of a shade structure. “This enhancement project,“ stated Mrs. Donna Taylor, Principal, “was our focus for the last two years for the proceeds from our Boosterthon Fun Run fundraiser. Our community did a wonderful job getting behind the project and supporting the students. Now we have this stately addition to our campus that will protect the students during their daily activities outside.”

The CHE students spent last week learning about sun safety. They received information through morning announcements, guest visitors, science experiments and promotional posters about protecting themselves from the negative effects of the sun. May is also Melanoma awareness month.

Trisha Sheffield (LISD board of Trustees, Place 2), Donna Taylor, members of the community, the entire student body, faculty, PTA members, and Board were all present for this important ribbon cutting ceremony.
