Veteran restauranteur opens Hills Café at the Castle Hills Village Shops
The Castle Hills Village Shops is now home to another unique eatery. Hills Café, a new neighborhood spot for breakfast, lunch and brunch, opened December 22 in the shops and joins other restaurants such as PI.E 3.14 Everyday Eatery, The Grind Burger Bar and Ramen Izakaya Akira, which was recently named one of the top seven locations for ramen in DFW. The Castle Hills Village Shops is located at 2520 King Arthur Blvd. in the master-planned Castle Hills community in Lewisville.
Hills Café is owned and operated by Sung “Sam” yub Jung, a restaurant veteran of 15 years who also successfully operates three Starwood Café locations in McKinney and Frisco. He decided to open Hills Café in Castle Hills because of the “special feel” of the community, one he wanted to be part of.
“The setting that overlooks Lake Avalon is unique, and so is the support of the neighborhood, not just for our new restaurant but for all of the restaurants and retailers here. We were immediately welcomed by the community and are so pleased to be here,” said Jung.
The Hills Café menu includes breakfast and brunch classics such as omelets, pancakes, French toast and Belgian waffles. Jung’s recipes also include fresh grilled asparagus with eggs and hollandaise sauce, and the Hills Crepes with mushrooms, spinach, a tomato cream sauce and made-from-scratch crepes. Jung’s favorite, Sam’s Breakfast Tacos, are stuffed with scrambled eggs, hash browns, cheese and salsa and topped with a strip of bacon.
Lunch items include a Cuban panini with pulled pork, smoked ham, swiss cheese and chipotle mayo; rosemary chicken salad on a fresh butter croissant; and the Hills Composed Salad with honey-smoked salmon, calamata olives, feta and roasted red peppers over mixed greens.
Hours for the Hills Café, which is bright and airy and appointed with fresh flowers and greenery throughout, are Monday through Friday, 7:30 a.m. to 2:30 p.m., and Saturday and Sunday, 7:30 a.m. to 3 p.m. Customers who would like to enjoy Hills Café menu items at home can do so with take-out, Uber Eats and DoorDash.
The Castle Hills Village Shops is a neighborhood destination with a number of retailers and conveniences. The London Baker is a Food Network-featured bakery and Sophia’s Kitchen is the neighborhood coffee shop. Neighborhood conveniences include a women’s hair salon, men’s barber, dry cleaners and nail salon as well as dental, chiropractic and orthodontic offices, a convenience store and more. In addition to the restaurants and shops, the Village Shops has an outdoor plaza area with shaded seating, a permanent stage and water features for casual neighborhood get-togethers as well as popular developer-sponsored community events.
