Cross Timbers Dental Ships Community Halloween Candy to Troops

This past weekend, children and families visited Flower Mound dentist Dr. Brad Revering and the Cross Timbers Dental team to “recycle” their Halloween candy by sending it to US Military Troops in conjunction with Operation Gratitude.

“It was a great event,” says Dr. Revering, who paid out $2 per pound to the children who brought in their candy.  “Kids can still have all of the fun of trick-or-treating and now their piggy banks will benefit as well.  It’s so uplifting how all of the children that came in were motivated to donate their extra sweets to support our hard working and much deserving Troops overseas.”

Hundreds pounds of candy were collected from community children.  Many made cards and pictures to be included with the shipment, which will also include dental supplies for the Troops.

“We couldn’t have done it without the support of other local dentists and the business community,” says Dr. Revering.  “Other dentists are helping to defray the shipping costs, and local businesses donated items so that each child received a goodie bag with healthy alternatives.”

Throughout this week, Cross Timbers Dental will be accepting surplus candy from any community members who want to “recycle” their candy back to the Troops.  Candy can be dropped off during their normal business hours.  Cross Timbers Dental expects to ship over 1,000 pounds of candy by the end of the week.
