Shopping center hosts drives on Saturdays, December 13 and 27

Lewisville, Texas (December 1, 2014) ~ In the spirit of the giving to others, Vista Ridge Mall hosts two blood drives for Carter BloodCare in the month of December. The dates for the drives are:

• Saturday, December 13 from 12 to 6 p.m.
• Saturday, December 27 from 12 to 6p.m.

The Carter BloodCare information table, where donors register, will be on the lower level near Macy’s. Potential blood donors can volunteer beginning at age 16 with a parent’s consent, and 17-year-olds can give independently. There is no upper age limit for giving. All donors must weigh at least 110 pounds, be in good general health and present a photo ID. Donors are advised to eat a nutritious meal and drink plenty of water before giving blood.

Carter BloodCare is a not-for-profit, 501(c)(3) organization that operates on behalf of patients in 58 Texas counties. With volunteer blood donors, Carter BloodCare is the primary provider of blood transfusion services for more than 200 Texas health care facilities and provides more than 440,000 units of lifesaving blood components for patients annually. The blood center is licensed by the Food and Drug Administration, accredited by the American Association of Blood Banks, and is a member of America’s Blood Centers.
