Lewisville Civic Chorale Focus on Growth

The Lewisville Civic Chorale is seeking to build upon its commitment to the community by expanding its opportunities. The Spring concert will be May 21, and plans for 2017 include an International tour.

The Chorus consists of volunteer singers under the direction of Artistic Director, Lewis Worthington. Founded in 1997 as the Musical Feast Society of Greater Lewisville, the Chorus changed its name to Lewisville Civic Chorale to better reflect its role in the Arts Community. The Chorus receives a portion of its funding through a grant from the City of Lewisville. Three growth initiatives are currently underway.

The City requires that the Chorus also raise funding from sources other than City coffers. While the Chorus members are all volunteers, they pay annual dues and pay for their own music. The members also participate in various fund-raising activities and donations are sought to enhance performances, rent performance and rehearsal spaces, and provide funds for additional musicians such as organists and orchestras.

The Lewisville Civic Chorale is currently seeking Corporate and individual Sponsors and Patrons. Opportunities exist for Sponsors and Patrons to contribute to the Chorale’s Lewisville performances by designating donations for individual musical pieces or for whole concerts. Sponsorships allow the Chorale to add orchestral performers or solo instrumentalists that add dimension and beauty to the music. Sponsors and Patrons receive prominent mention in Concert programs and press releases. Advertisers may also purchase space in Chorale programs.

The Chorale will embark on its first International tour in November 2017. This concert tour of Ireland will be entirely funded by the Chorus members. The tour will allow the Chorus to share its American repertoire with Irish audiences in historic performance spaces. The experience will also enrich the members’ musical experiences and allow them to share those experiences with the Community at home.

Finally, the Chorale is also seeking new members. The Chorus is composed of experienced, adult singers. New members are welcome with current needs in the bass and tenor sections. Rehearsals are on Thursday evenings from 7:00 pm to 9:00 pm and as required for each concert. Prospective members will be asked to commit to the rehearsal schedule as prep time for each performance is limited as befits this accomplished Chorus.
