October Brings Beer Tasting, Haunted Houses and Marionette Show to Castle Hills

October brings back the annual Castle Hills Fall Festival with scary haunted houses, a star warp marionette show, hayrides, carnival games and progressive beer tasting. The marionette show and the annual Fall Festival are free; costs for the haunted house are $5 with proceeds benefitting local charities. All events take place in the Castle Hills Village Shops Plaza, a one-acre-plus site featuring tree-shaded walkways, gardens, and numerous water features, including the very popular interactive water fountain, a permanent stage and outdoor seating. The plaza is located at 2560 King Arthur Blvd. at Lady of the Lake in the Castle Hills neighborhood. Everyone is welcome!

The Castle Hills Village Shops Plaza schedule of events for October includes:

Friday, October 7, Marionette Show: “Star Warp,” 7 pm: This fast-paced marionette variety show features several “stars” the kids will recognize including a special tribute to the Star Wars film. Princesses, light saber duels, lasers, Elsa and Olaf, and even dinosaurs make appearances in this latest show from Geppetto’s Theater. Don’t forget to bring extra chairs and blankets.

Saturday, October 15, Fall Festival: Kiwanis Haunted House and Progressive Beer-Tasting:

  • Fall Festival: 4 – 7 pm
  • Kiwanis Haunted House: 4 – 9 pm
  • Progressive Beer Tasting: 5 – 7 pm

You won’t want to miss this year’s Fall Festival at the Plaza which will feature a six-pony carousel, a longhorn photo-op, face painters, carnival games, hay rides, a petting zoo, arts & crafts by Kiddie Academy, a pumpkin patch and music from a DJ. Two $100 gift cards will be given away and free candy apples for the first 100 people. Food will also be available for purchase. Pumpkins will also be on sale in the pumpkin patch. Another annual tradition, the Kiwanis Haunted House, will open at 4 pm with a $5 donation. Also, the 6th Annual Progressive Beer Tasting (valid ID required) will begin at 5 pm with participating merchants offering free beer tasting.

  • Monday, October 31, 5-9pm

Saturday, October 31, Krieger Orthodontics & Smile Design Haunted House, 7:00 – 9:30 pm: Krieger Orthodontics will be transforming its practice into a Halloween haunted house for all ages. Open to the public, with a suggested donation of $5 per person. All proceeds benefit a Veterans’ support organization.
