The Acting Studio will present two performances of the beloved musical “Wizard of Oz” on April 4-5 at Medical Center of Lewisville Grand Theater, the latest in a growing string of quality musicals taking the stage at the city-run facility.

Based on a 1900 novel by L. Frank Baum, and immortalized in the classic 1939 movie starting Judy Garland, “Wizard of Oz” tells the story of little Dorothy Gale from Kansas who, like so many girls her age, dreams of what lies over the rainbow. On day a twister hits her farm and carries her away over the rainbow to a magical world where she embarks on am amazing journey accompanied by the Scarecrow, the Tin Man, the cowardly Lion, and her little dog Toto, too.

The Acting Studio is operated in Grapevine and Frisco by owners Shane and Erica Peterman, both of whom are members of the Actors’ Equity Association with dozens of performing credits in the United States and Europe. Professional staff at The Acting Studio teach classes in voice, dance and acting for stage and film for students of all ages, including classes for younger children ages 3-7 up through adults. Students have the opportunity to perform in local shows as well as regional tours.

Medical Center of Lewisville Grand Theater, located at 100 N. Charles Street, between Main and Church streets, opened in January 2011. The 40,000-square-foot facility features a 296-seat proscenium theater, black box theater, dance recital hall, art gallery, five art classrooms and a large courtyard. Medical Center of Lewisville has a multi-year agreement with the city for naming rights at the center.

To reach the MCL Grand from Interstate 35E, take exit 452 and proceed east on Main Street to Charles Street. MCL Grand will be on the left. Free public parking is available along Main and Church streets, or at Lewisville City Hall across Church Street from the center. Parking is not allowed on the grass lot across Church Street from MCL Grand.
