The popular “Sounds of Lewisville” concert series, a free family favorite since 1991, will present a series of nine shows this year in the heart of historic Old Town Lewisville.

Concerts start at 7 p.m. every Tuesday night in June and July. Attendees are encouraged to bring blankets and lawn chairs for their comfort. Well-behaved pets on a leash are allowed at the shows.

The series will open in the courtyard at Medical Center of Lewisville Grand Theater, 100 N. Charles Street, where the concerts have been held since 2011. When construction is completed on Old Town Park Plaza across the street from the art center, the concerts will move to the permanent stage and grass lawn in the new park.

Concerts are presented by Lewisville Convention and Visitors Bureau with assistance from Parks and Leisure Services and the MCL Grand.

The series kicks off June 3 with Kraig Parker and his Elvis tribute show. Parker was the Peoples Choice winner for the 2013 Sounds series.

Other performers in the Sounds series include returning favorites Brave Combo (June 10) and The Killdares (July 29), along with popular country band Eleven Hundred Springs (July 22) that last played in Lewisville during the 2005 Western Day festival. The season also introduces five groups making their first appearance in Old Town Lewisville.

Many concert nights also will feature additional entertainment or activities during intermission, including special performers and lots of fun things for kids and families.

Medical Center of Lewisville Grand Theater, located at 100 N. Charles Street between Main and Church streets, opened its doors in January 2011. The 40,000-square-foot facility features a 296-seat proscenium theater, black box theater, dance recital hall, art gallery, five art classrooms and a large courtyard. Medical Center of Lewisville has a multi-year agreement with the city for naming rights at the center.

Old Town Plaza is a 1.5-acre urban park and community gathering place being built across the street from City Hall and the MCL, and adjacent to the historic Main Street commercial district. Features will include an elevated stage facing a large central lawn, a linear water feature parallel to a boardwalk, an interactive splash pad, and native Texas landscaping. It is expected to open in late June or early July.

To reach the concert sites from Interstate 35E, take exit 452 and proceed east on Main Street to Charles Street. The MCL Grand will be on the left. Free public parking is available along Main and Church streets, or at Lewisville City Hall across Church Street from the center. Parking is not permitted on the grass lot across Church Street from the facility.
