Summer lunches for needy students

“Mommy, will we have enough food for lunches this summer?”

Unfortunately, this is a question Denton County students may have if they have been receiving school lunches during the school year.

Help us relieve food insecurity among Denton County residents.

In spite of government assistance programs, 1 of 8 people struggle with hunger. And 1 in 6 children may not know where they will get their next meal. Nearly 6 million Senior Citizens currently face hunger in America.

The Salvation Army in Lewisville provides a free nutritious lunch in it’s dining room every weekday to anyone who is hungry. It also partners with churches in Denton County to provide a free lunch on Sunday at the Lewisville location. And it operates a local food pantry. Needy individuals and families from throughout Denton County have benefited from the Salvation Army’s outreach.

Despite the improving economy, the number of Denton County residents experiencing food insecurity continues to increase. Too many children, adults and senior citizens are hungry when the day ends. These people need your help. The Salvation Army needs your help.

Introducing the “U-CAN Make a Difference” Project.

The Salvation Army-Lewisville needs to replenish its inventory of non-perishable canned goods frequently every month to support its kitchen operation and food pantry. A $17.00 contribution will enable the Salvation Army to purchase one case containing 12 larger cans of soups, veggies, fruits bean, etc.
